The meaning of the word Divieto is "prohibited" in Italian. When the visual concept of Divieto was created, inspired by family history, the idea was to pay tribute to the migration of Italians at the end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s. Italian immigration during those years enriched American culture in many ways, with gastronomy being one of the most significant.

Italian food not only became a favorite among the American people but also gradually gained popularity until it became the second favorite cuisine in the United States.

This wave of Italian immigration to America occurred during a time of change and growth in the United States, particularly in the 1920s. The prohibition of alcohol led to the rise of mafias that clandestinely trafficked alcohol produced in illegal distilleries.

That’s why the name Divieto was chosen, reflecting the theme of prohibition and the era when these two cultures intertwined.
